  • Firefighters Union Endorses Dwight Boykins for Houston City Council, District D

    The 80-year organization, Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341, acknowledges Boykins As Their Candidate To Represent District D

    August 5, 2013 – (HOUSTON, TX)- Dwight Boykins continues to garner massive support in his campaign for Houston City Council, District D. Today, Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341 endorsed Dwight Boykins to represent Houston City Council District D.

    “I am beyond grateful for the endorsement of Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341,” Boykins said. “I take this endorsement with honor and respect because their courage and dedication is a driving force in the city of Houston.”

    “We feel Dwight Boykins is the best candidate for District D. He stands for the safety, well-being and financial future of Houston firefighters and their families,” said Jeff Caynon, President of the Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341. “He is the ideal person for the job. Boykins has always embraced the needs and overall concerns of not only the firefighter family but all citizens of Houston.”

    The Houston Professional Firefighters’ Association Local 341 is the fourth largest fire union in the nation. Their active membership tops 3,800 brave and dedicated men and women and spans across many counties in the state.

    Boykins believes this endorsement is crucial as he strives to improve and increase public safety in the community.

    Dwight Boykins is a long-time resident of District D with a passion for advocating for his residents and community issues. Dwight has been committed to serving his community by working with organizations like SHAPE Community Center, the NAACP, and several other non-profits. Dwight attended and graduated from Houston Independent School District including, Turner Elementary, Whidby Elementary, Cullen Jr. High, and Stephen F. Austin High School. Dwight then went on to earn his BBA in Marketing from the Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University.

    July 2nd, 2013 – (HOUSTON, TX) – The Boykins2013 campaign team is off to a great start. Dwight Boykins and his team are elated to report the support they have garnered in the city of Houston. This grassroots campaign has received endorsements from elected officials, the business community, citizens of the district and community leaders.

    “Dwight has been a continuous servant of the community,” said Representative Alma Allen.  “Now we have the chance to elect him for city council and I believe he is the best candidate to represent the District D population because of his knowledge, experience and passion.”

    “I could not be successful in this grassroots campaign without the constant support of the community and residents of this beautiful district,“ said Boykins.  “Having been born and raised in District D, I feel an obligation to serve the community that helped shape me into the man I am today.”

    “Dwight is very astute concerning the city’s problems,” said Rev. James Nash. “He has many initiatives that will better District D, such as his “Second Chance” program which is a great opportunity to assist the youth and create more jobs.”

    The Boykins campaign team continues to make strides toward a “New Vision and New Direction” for the historic district. They want to ensure individuals are knowledgeable of the issues and solutions are determined so the people of District D can move forward.

    I was truly honored to take part in the Sisters Network Inc. 4th Annual National African American Breast Cancer 5k Walk/Run this past Saturday, April 13th.

    For those of you who may not be familiar with the organization, Sisters Network Inc. is a leading voice and the only national African American breast cancer survivorship organization in the United States. Its purpose is to save lives and provide a broader scope of knowledge that addresses the breast cancer survivorship crisis affecting African American women around the country.
